Education
I'm currently a freshman at the University of North Carolina at Asheville (UNCA) planning to major in Biology. My current college GPA is 3.7. I'm also in the Honors Program and am a Laurel Scholar. I made the Dean's List this past semester and was invited to join Phi Sigma Eta, a national honor society for college freshmen. I graduated from North Buncombe High School in Weaverville, NC this past June as an NC Scholar with Highest Honors and an weighted GPA of 4.6.
Experience
I really enjoyed helping my cousins and friends with their biology homework, but really just homework in general. It's pretty rewarding to see someone just light up when they learn something new. Currently I'm a tutor and mentor for ESL students at Asheville High School. I made a 4 on my AP Biology exam and a 31 in science on my ACT when I was in high school. I am also able to tutor in Spanish, as I've taken a Spanish class nearly every year I've been in school since Kindergarten (I attended a bilingual school system as a child). I've also continued studying Spanish in college. I am of Hispanic descent, though I'm not fully fluent. I've also been in chorus for five years, including being in an audition-only choir for two years. I have sung in Buncombe County's All-County High School Choir during my last two years of high school and I sang in the Heritage Music Festival in New York City as a junior in high school. I've also sang in musicals before. I obviously specialize in chorus music, but am able to teach basic singing techniques and very basic music theory that can carry over into other genres like pop music.
